BAUSPARKASSE SCHWÄBISCH-HALL RELIES ON THE DATA MIGRATION FRAMEWORK BY PARICON.
Bausparkasse Schwäbisch-Hall, Germany's largest building society, is replacing its host-based core banking and processing system with a modern standard software solution on an SAP S/4HANA platform. A key milestone in the transformation project, which will take several years to complete, is the transfer of existing business to the new platform. For the building society, the complete, technically consistent data transfer is a critical success factor for the success of the overall project. In addition, the migration effort and the associated costs are a decisive factor for the underlying business case. Based on these considerations, the building society decided to use the paricon data migration framework to ensure a successful data migration. paricon has been dealing with data management and data migration for SAP systems for over 20 years – and has developed the framework based on its many years of experience and has continuously improved it over the years. It provides efficient functions for data extraction, transformation, cleansing and loading, thus enabling efficient and audit-proof data transfer with extremely low implementation effort.
Quick Facts
One of the first S/4HANA migrations in the banking environment
Fast implementation of migration routes through standard adapters for SAP S/4HANA and SAP Banking modules (inbound and outbound)
Consistent and audit-proof data transfer through a central migration platform
Complete overview of all value flows and data exchange, versionable, stepwise expandable conversion rules
Initial data analysis and iterative improvement of data quality
Reduction of test efforts and migration results through automatable completeness checks

The challenge for data migration is, of course, the complete, consistent and audit-proof transfer of assets with minimal implementation and execution effort. Challenging for the technical implementation here was not only the enormous amount of data, but also the high-performance transformation of the data into completely new data and object structures and field values, as well as the integration of data cleansing functions for an iterative improvement of data quality to the level required for the target system and target processes. Furthermore, the data transfer had to be transparent and audit-proof. In addition to ensuring the completeness of all entities required in the future, as well as the correctness of all created data, increasing the data quality to ensure the highest possible degree of automation was an important requirement of the building society to the migration team. In addition, the migration process focused on high-performance execution, reduction of system downtime, preparation of the reconciliation results in a comprehensible and audit-proof form, and compliance with all compliance/audit requirements of BSH.

The primary goal of the building society is to minimize the impact of migration activities on the ongoing business operations. The commitment of internal employees for conceptual work and data cleansing must be as low as possible. The basic design approach of the paricon framework, to work with the entire production data stock as quickly as possible and to get a quick overview of the structure and quality of the data, is a key success factor and accelerator for the migration project. Thus, transformation and data cleansing rules can be implemented early on and the data quality of the migration material can be iteratively improved. A "learning" set of rules helps to keep the manual cleansing effort as low as possible. Where this is nevertheless necessary, a workflow-supported processing cockpit helps to ensure efficient, traceable processing.

The paricon Data Migration Framework generates measurable added value for the transformation project:
Low time and cost for migration:
- Fast implementation of extraction and loading interfaces thanks to comprehensive content and standard adapters
- Implementation and adaptation of transformation and correction rules completely without development effort
- Short throughput times thanks to comprehensive parallelization and scaling options for processing large volumes of data
Increase of data quality:
- Analysis tools and a powerful DQ and correction ruleset enable a highly automatable quality increase of the migration material
- Workflow-supported processing cockpit enables iterative processing of special cases
Efficient deployment of employees:
- Complete SAP integration enables user-friendly peration during configuration and execution of the migration steps
- Quick training of SAP-affine employees, no special know-how required
Integral compliance with data protection and auditing requirements:
- Data processing in the SAP target system ensures complete transparency of all transformation and processing steps
- through comprehensive monitoring and integrated anonymization functions
